UBT'S (Uswazi Born Talent) BIOGRAPHY
TANZANIA
Uswazi Born Talents is a non-governmental organization founded as a platform to unearth, nurture, and develop young talents from the streets. Its purpose is to preserve and promote Tanzanian culture and the heritage of ancestors through the arts.
The aim is to use Tanzanian creativity to protect, preserve and promote culture as Tanzanians, for the benefit of future generations.
UBT's Projects For Creation Africa
For the first year of Creation Africa, UBT worked on providing accessible resources and professional opportunities for emerging and independent Singeli artists. Through this grant, facilities were expanded to include a rehearsal space, state-of-the-art music equipment rentals, a recording studio, a photoshoot studio, and a video production studio. These services were designed to enhance the artistic output of clients while fostering an environment where local talent could thrive and gain greater visibility. Additionally, during the Singeli Convention, workshops for managers and artists were held, covering topics like production, sound creation, global market strategies, and the role of international managers.
Building on the progress made in the first year, the project Singeli 2 the world continues to grow with the launch of Singeli Media, commonly referred to as SINGELI TV. This channel is owned by Kandoro Baba Entertainment, an entertainment company committed to promoting and providing opportunities for Singeli musicians to develop their art and ultimately turn it into a business that will transform their lives.
Singeli Media is a general entertainment channel that focuses mostly on Singeli culture-related programming. These shows will depict the lifestyles of people from Tanzania’s local and suburban areas, which are rarely represented by other media outlets.
The network channel will feature full-length programs of Singeli news and Singeli artist reality shows. It will also provide coverage of major award shows that include Singeli categories and exclusive releases of Singeli music, along with all campaigns that concern the community.
In addition, Singeli Media aims to document all of the struggles and achievements that these suburban and local residents experience, as well as how they cope with them. The goal is to serve as a lesson for future generations, and even preserve these lives as historical archives from which other societies can learn.
