THE ESPACE CAMPUS FRANCE

ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE OF DAR ES SALAAM

OUR MISSION

The Espace in Tanzania is located at the Alliance Française in Dar es Salam. It has three main purposes:

1. PROMOTE

The promotion of France as an attractive place for higher education is at the heart of the Campus France activity. For this, we participate in study fairs, visit Tanzanian universities and schools, and present the French academic landscape. We are also active on Instagram, where we post updates or information about Campus France and related topics. You can follow us on campustz!

If you represent a higher education institution or an organization active in this field and would like to learn more about us or to cooperate with us, please feel free to reach out to us.

Promote
Inform

2. INFORM

Our second activity is to provide information for interested students, researchers, or pupils. People who want to go to France and need advice in order to understand the offers, the procedure, administrative issues, or simply about the everyday student life in France. For those seeking personalized information, we follow the procedure below:

  • First contact: getting in touch with Campus France

People learn about  French offers or about Campus France and then need guidance in order to find the information they are looking for. Therefore, we developed a questionnaire, that is mandatory for getting in contact with Campus France Tanzania. Most of the time, we can provide first support by sending links about specific topics that can also be found on the campusfrance.org website.

  • Second contact: the personal appointment

Once the student finds the study place or degree they want to enroll in, they must start to prepare for their journey. Questions about the application process, the necessary budget, the visa application, the accommodation, etc. come up. At this point, Espace will schedule an individual appointment for you. It may be at our offices at the Alliance in Dar es Salam, or virtually.

3. PREPARE

Finally, we prepare the students for their journey! Students who have successfully applied for a study place in France must have a meeting with Campus France in order to get their visa appointment. We do this because we care about the students and want to make sure that they are well-prepared. Before the appointment, students need to send their admission letter and their latest diploma to CF. They must also state the date their term starts and the date they want to travel.!

During the meeting, we will discuss the professional project of the students and evaluate: Does the chosen study relate to the professional ambitions? Does the student have a realistic expectation about the study life in France? Does he or she have the capacity to finance the studies? Do the students understand which diploma they will obtain?

It is important to mention that Campus France is not evaluating the choice of studies; everyone is free to choose whatever he or she likes. We evaluate the coherence of the project. The objective is to avoid false expectations and bad preparation that turn into frustration. A study abroad must be well prepared.

OUR CALENDAR

The Espace Campus France in Tanzania offers its different services calendar. As the application process for international students is regulated in Paris, Campus France follows the calendar and adapts its services accordingly. Please note, that outside the promotion phase, the Espace Campus France only provides information to students who applied to or are admitted to French institutions. General requests about studying in France will not be answered, as most information is available online on the Campus France website.

The calendar below has been adapted to the cycle of applying for a study place in France. For other activities, Campus France Tanzania schedules its activities regarding the context. For example, if the French Embassy launches the call for applications for its scholarships in April/May, Campus France Tanzania will promote them as well.

PROMOTION

PHASE

In mid-September, the office opens again and starts to promote the upcoming phase for applications. We visit Tanzanian intuitions and participate in study fairs. This phase ends with the deadline for applications, generally the end of March of the following year. Promotion of French scholarships or higher education programs is organized regarding their respective application deadlines. To stay updated, follow us on Instagram (campustz). General information about French offers for university and research cooperation can be found on the
website of the French Embassy in Tanzania.

INFORMATION

PHASE

The information phase starts with the promotion phase in mid-September. In the first month, it mainly consists of first contact information, as described above. It is mostly from December to March, once students decide to apply and select their studies, that we have most of our appointments. Of course, we stay available throughout the year for appointments if needed.

Please notice: After the application deadline, generally 31/03 of each year, we don’t schedule any appointments for students who didn’t apply for a study place until the upcoming promotion /information phase in mid-September.

PREPARATION

PHASE

The preparation meetings can be held whenever needed. Generally, students receive the admission letter in June or July. Once the students receive their admission letter from the university, they must contact Campus France Tanzania and schedule an appointment. Without the appointment, they can’t apply for a study visa in France.
