SINGELI MOVEMENT'S BIOGRAPHY

TANZANIA

Singeli movement was founded in 2022 by the singeli manager Abbas Jazza. It began in the streets of Mburahati, where people performed at street weddings and in groups of young individuals known as “Camps.” The movement was created with the aim of supporting young, talented artists—both female and male—who struggle to continue pursuing their goals due to limited access to music studios and media producers, often because of financial constraints.

Singeli Movement's Projects For Creation Africa

To help these artists, Singeli movement launched in 2023-24 a project called “Singeli Residency.” This initiative has allowed to reach young people in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, and Tanga. Concerts were held and Singeli Movement gathered talented youth for a six months program. Through this program, Singeli Residency has been able to successfully mentor and support these artists, helping them achieve their goals and connect with industry professionals. As a result, many have been able to advance in their careers and make valuable connections.

For the second year with Creation Africa, Singeli Movement is launching the website singelimusic.com dedicated to promote Singeli artists. The platform will feature artist profiles with biographies and EPKs (Electronic Press Kits), allowing artists to present their music professionally to a wider audience both locally and internationally.
