Rangi Gallery's Projects For Creation Africa
Rangi Gallery is proud to introduce the Rangi Nyumbani Residency (RNR), a program inspired by the widely recognized term for “rest and recreation; rest and recuperation; rest and relaxation.” This unique residency program is designed to offer participants a comfortable, well-equipped accommodation where they can relax, recharge, and ignite their artistic creativity. It is a space for artists to reimagine their craft by blending what they already know with fresh inspirations drawn from their new surroundings.
The centerpiece of this initiative is the renovation of part of our property to establish an interactive artist residency accommodation. This space will serve as a semi-structured, production-based residency program, welcoming both local and international visual artists and curators. Unlike many residency programs that are located in remote natural settings, RNR thrives on the dynamic energy of urban life. Artists will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich cultural fabric of Tanzania, collaborate with local talent, and engage with the city’s vibrant art scene.
Our vision is to foster a meaningful exchange of skills between residents and local artists. This interaction aims to inspire the creation of art that remains authentic to Tanzanian culture while incorporating fresh perspectives, techniques, themes, and patterns brought by the diverse expertise of visiting artists.
In addition to being a haven for creativity, the renovated accommodation will advance our mission of artistic development and education. Through workshops, classes, and meaningful engagements with the local art community, Rangi Gallery will nurture emerging talent, enhance technical skills, and provide resources for professional growth. This initiative will empower artists to build successful careers while fostering a deeper connection to Tanzanian art and culture.
