Open to all Alliance Française members, our Library is a dynamic resource centre where language meets culture and curiosity finds room to grow. With a wide-ranging collection of 9,877 books in French, English, and Swahili, plus access to Culturethèque and the Kakiota Co-Working & Creative Hub, it’s more than just a library. It’s a space to explore.
What you’ll find
A rich, multilingual collection
With 9,227 books plus 650 new titles dedicated to the Kakiota Creative Hub, our Library offers something for everyone. Browse fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s books, comics, grammar guides, and more—mainly in French, but also in English and Swahili.
A children’s corner designed to delight
Young readers can enjoy illustrated albums, comic books, learning tablets, poetry, and games, all in a cosy space made just for them.
The Kakiota Space for creatives
A dedicated section for artists, writers, and cultural practitioners. Here you’ll find books on arts, culture, and inspiration across disciplines.
Digital and practical tools
Use our in-house computers, enjoy free Wi-Fi, or dive into Culturethèque—the digital library with thousands of French-language resources online.
Class resources & textbook sales
Students can purchase official class textbooks at the Library:
French textbook – TSh 80,000
Swahili textbook – TSh 55,000
French textbook for kids – TSh 50,000
The Boutique

Membership is open to everyone and can be obtained at the Library reception:
- Adult: TSh 30,000/year
- Child: TSh 10,000/year
- Family: TSh 70,000/year

Borrowing rules
Members may borrow up to 4 books at a time, for up to 2 weeks.
